In Southern California where I live could you grow lavender, wormwood, spearmint, tansy, bay, fennel, santolina, or american pennyroyal in the summer. Also if you have time could you explain how you grow these herbs?

Southern California spans climatic zones 8, 9, and 10. When you check our catalogue it gives you the climatic zone that the plant can over-winter in and the climatic zone it can survive the summer in. Pennyroyal for example is rated as Z 6-9 which means it can over-winter outside down to zone 6 and summer out of doors up to zone 9. If you live in zone 10, you would have to bring the plant into your air-conditioned house for the summer, but you could leave it out for the winter.

All of the herbs you mentioned want good drainage, but moist soil, with spearmint and pennyroyal wanting it wettest.
