Trouble Germinating Cumin Seeds Answered by: Inge Poot Question from: Russell Page Posted on: January 26, 2009
I have never been able to germinate cumin seeds after multiple attempts. It is said to be easy to germinate. What might I be doing wrong?
Cumin germinates best at cooler temperatures with 21 degrees Celsius being the optimum. Since most houses are this temperature, most people find it easy. You might be giving it bottom heat and it does not like it!
I also find that sterilizing the potting soil by pouring boiling water over it and sowing as soon as it has cooled cuts down on damp off problems.
