I live in Orlando, Florida , USA and wanted to establish an herb garden or fragrant perennials that will survive in Florida. The front yard is shaded by oak trees but gets 3 hours of sunlight a day some parts less. I am in the process of getting the soil tested for pH. Any suggestions for this climate?

Orlando Florida is in climatic zone 9. All of our plants are shown as surviving a range of zones, the lower one giving the coldest winters they can take and the upper limit giving you the hottest summers they can survive out of doors planted in the soil. You can find this information to the right of the latin name of the plant in the catalogue or on line on our web-site www.richters.com by clicking on the "Richters InfoCentre" in the News&Info section on the left side of the home page. Once there click on the "Richters Herb Growing Infobase" and typing in "A" and the scrolling down the list. Any herb that contains zone 9 in its range of zones, will be suitable. Annuals in general will be fine in any zone- with a few limitations re special requirements.

Going through the catalogue, the following plants will be suitable: Aconite, Adonis(annual), Agastache, Agrimony, Ajmud(annual), Ajowan(annual), Alkanet, Allheal, Ambrosia(annual), Andrographis(annual), Angelica, etc
