I am hoping to sow 2,000 sq. ft.(one twentieth of an acre) in the Sherbrook - Montreal, QC, Canada area with wild thyme. How much seed will I need?

If you grow the plants in a seed bed you will need 15 to 150 g depending on how quickly you want the seedlings to merge into a solid mat. This translates into seedlings planted out at 5 to 15cm distances between the plants. If you wish to sow direct y ou will need 10 imes as much, since many seeds will not make it.
