Commercial Teas

I live nowhere near an actual herb store, just GNCs. How or can I use some of the commercial teas, such as Celestial Seasonings teas, as a supplement to remedy some ailments, or must I go find a store that sells herbs in bulk? If I have to go to a store that sell these herbs in bulk, how do I know that they are fresh?

Some commercial herbal teas may be used for their medicinal effects. The quantities of specific herbs are on the package labels, and can be compared to medicinal dosages.

If you are buying herbs in bulk, ask the store owner about their source and how often they are ordered. Herbs can be kept fresh in airtight glass jars, stored in a cool, dark place, for a period of up to a year. When herbs are finely cut, they may lose their effect more quickly. Flowers and leaves should retain their colour when properly dried and stored.
