Safety of Ginger and Turmeric Taken Together

Hi my name is Telly and I live in the Caribbean, Grenada W.I to be exact. I don’t know if you have heard of this island before. I came across your website by reading a magazine a relative sent me from Canada and I found it very interesting.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. My question:

1. Is it ok to boil fresh ginger and turmeric together and have as tea? I also suffer from acid reflux and I do find some form of relief. Should I continue using both together or should they be used separately?

We have not heard of negative interactive effect between ginger and turmeric, so I don’t expect any problems taking the two together. But because interactions between herbs are still poorly understood and largely undocumented, you are well advised to watch how your body responds to these two over the longer term. Sometimes unknown side effects can develop, though in the case of these two, with their long histories of safe use in food, that seems unlikely.

2. How long should one use glucosamine chondroitin for?

Glucosamine is not a herb per se, and we are not competent to comment on how it should be used. Sorry.
