Are bay leaves, boiled in water and taken as a tea, good for arthritis of the feet?

No, I have not heard of this use for bay leaves. Thomas Bartram, in "Bartramīs Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (available at Richters), lists bay leaves as a gastric tonic, an antifungal, a mild sedative and antiseptic. The tea could be used for digestive problems, which are usually involved in arthritic conditions. For use in arthritis, Bartram lists the seed oil of the bay plant, to be used externally.
