Diabetic But Not Overweight

I have just been told that I am a diabetic. I am 59 years old and not overweight, so it was a shock. Could you please tell me what herbs I can take to lower my sugar levels?

Obesity is one major factor in adult-onset diabetes. Other major factors are diet and exercise. Consumption of high levels of "simple sugars" (for example, white bread & flour, white sugar, soda drinks, low fibre cereals) in diets that are now "normal" in many countries in the western world, causes stress to the blood-sugar metabolism. In diabetes and a now common pre-diabetic condition known as "syndrome X", the body’s cells resist using the insulin produced by the pancreas.

Diabetes can be handled well, keeping blood sugar levels very close to normal, resulting in the diabetic living a long, healthy life. Major health problems result if diabetes is not well managed. Get all the information you need to provide you with a good understanding of diabetes and how you can handle it. Your local pharmacy should be a source of information and websites for your local diabetes associations.
