I am a 34 yr old healthy female! I have been under some stress and my period has ceased. My everyday habits have been the same. I am wondering if there is some type of herbs I can take that will help me to start my period? Any info will be helpful.

Amenorrhea, or lack of a menstrual cycle, can result from hormone imbalance, emotional problems, anemia or internal problems like fibroids. I recommend that you consult with your doctor or a natural practitioner to determine the cause. Common hormone problems causing amenorrhea are thyroid, estrogen and progesterone. Long periods of high stress can cause an adrenal hormone imbalance. These can be determined with a blood test. If your sex hormones are out of balance, Vitex agnus castus (chasteberry) is sometimes helpful. If your thyroid is under functioning, seaweeds like kelp may help. Motherwort is a relaxing herb that can help to regulate periods in cases of thyroid overactivity or excess stress.

You will be more successful in bringing your periods back to normal if you take the recommendations of a practitioner who has completed your full case history, and can give you advice for all of the factors in amenorrhea that are applicable in your individual case.
