Elecampane Function

Please help me by explaining the main functions of these herbs: Elecampane root and coltfoot leaves.

Elecampane (Inula helenium) is used mainly for chronic coughs, especially in tuberculosis, whooping cough and any lung disorder with a build up of mucus, or where a build up of mucus must be prevented, like emphysema.

The fresh root should be used. The medicinal chemicals in the plant are unstable, so using the dried root may have little or no effect.

Please see our website www.richters.com for information about coltsfoot. Choose Q&A from the main menu, then enter "coltsfoot" for the search.
