What herb or herbs can I use for a toothache?

A toothache is just a symptom of something else going on so it is best to consult a dentist. However, until the cause is found, the following recommendations can be employed. Clove oil has a long history of use as a natural pain reliever and can be applied to the gums. Myrrh tincture has been used as a gargle to reduce infections that can cause toothaches. Sage tea has been used as a gargle for inflamed gums that can be perceived as a toothache. Oak bark tree can be used as a mouth rinse to harden teeth that are prone to decay. Bloodroot gargle can be used to reduce plaque and gum degeneration. The old "an apple a day...." can help to keep teeth and gums healthy.
