Is apple pectin considered an herb? Do you recommend its use for constipation?

Apple pectin is derived from apples and is used to thicken jams. It is a soluble fibre that is excellent for constipation and dry bowels. It helps to create bulk that puts pressure on the bowel wall that in turn stimulates the bowels to move. Eating a few apples a day would not only provide you with this apple pectin but will also provide you with insoluble fibre that is also needed for constipation and good bowel health. Insoluble fibre helps to clean and absorb metabolic waste and toxins from the bowel so that they may be eliminated in the stool.
