Sea Onion Seeds?

I’ve had excellent luck with every plant and seed from you so far; my sea onion is no exception. I got it last year and it has produced many babies, and now has produced a flower stalk that is going to seed.

Question: are these seeds hard to germinate or is there a reason only plants are sold in the catalogue? Or is it just rare for them to flower? Thanks for anyone’s info on this, and thanks for all the plants.

The only reason that sea onion (Ornithogalum umbellatum) seeds are not available in our catalogue is lack of availability. As you have noted, the plants will produce seeds, and those seeds will germinate readily. But we cannot produce enough seeds in our greenhouses to be able to offer them in our catalogue. And we are not aware of any commercial seed grower in areas where it can grow outdoors all year round. If a grower in a tropical or subtropical area were to grow the plant for seeds, we would be happy to list the seeds in our catalogue.
