Lady’s Slipper

I have a great interest in lady’s slipper and would like to find out as much information about propagation conditions and where I can buy seeds to grow this herb myself. Please if you have any information for me, I would appreciate some good leads.

Lady’s slipper is a native orchid. It is not easy to grow from seed. We are experiementing with some seeds now, but it will be several years before we know enough to offer seeds.

Plants are sometimes available, but it is our impression that most, if not all, are transplanted from the wild. This practice definitely should NOT be encouraged (!) because lady’s slipper rarely survives transplanting and because wild populations are becoming depleted in many areas.
