(New York ironweed) Tall native flower with masses of deep purple fluffy flowers. It was used by the Cherokee for pain, toothache, ulcers, and hemorrhage. It is a bitter tonic and alterative useful for menstrual disorders and fevers. Prefers moist conditions but will tolerate a wide range of soils.
