(Wild garlic; Bear garlic; Bärlauch) The fresh flowering herb is used to treat high blood pressure and hardening of the arteries. Recommended as a tonic in spring when the leaves are most potent. Leaves are used in salads, sandwiches and any dish where a garlic flavour is desirable. Up to 40cm/16in with showy white flowers appearing in late spring or early summer. Prefers moist, shady locations.
