(Cham-dang-gwi; Chao xian dang gui) Impressive Korean tall plant topped with spectacular blood-red flowerheads shaped like domes. For looks alone this plant is a standout for any tall border. But it is also an impressive medicinal herb. Traditionally the roots are used in Korean herbal medicine for anemia, dysmenorrhea, migraine, infections and rheumatism. Recent studies have shown that the root extract can prevent plaque-induced memory impairment associated with Alzheimers disease and it kills cancer cells in lymphoma, prostate cancer, and in lung, breast and colon cancer.
