Attractive honey plant with masses of white flower spikes, rich in nectar. Homey bees love this herb, and for beekeepers having this around adds a light fragrance to the honey. Both leaves and flowers are edible. Leaves, when crushed, are strongly anise-scented. They are a delightful tea and culinary seasoning. Simmer leaves in cream for licorice flavour in ice cream recipes. Medicinally, anise-hyssop has been used to treat a variety of ailments. Brewed, it is known to help with digestion and congestion. It is also looked at for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities. Added to a bath, it can help ease sunburns, and yeast or fungal conditions. Dried flowers are a good incense and when anise-hyssop is planted near a back door, is thought to be protective. Height 40in (101cm); Spread 18in (45cm)
