(Paperbark) Source of cajeput oil, a pungent oil distilled from the leaves of this aromatic tree from Australia. The oil is antiseptic, decongestant, analgesic, promotes circulation, reduces fevers and relieves cramps. It is used in the liniment Tiger Balm and in the decongestant Olbas Oil. Also used in commercial preparations for bacterial and fungal infections in fish. Seeds need light to germinate.
