(Damar; White copal) Rainforest tree native to Indonesia and common throughout southeast Asia. Source of a hard-semi-translucent pale yellow resin called damar used in paints and varnishes, in cosmetics and in medicine. When placed on hot charcoal it makes a wonderfully light and refreshing incense. Traditionally used to treat scabies, dermititis and impetigo. Often used as a substitute for Mexican copal.
