Reportedly has the highest concentration of allicin among the porcelain varieties of garlic. Allicin is a key antibiotic compound that accounts for the incredible medicinal effects of garlic. As you might expect given its high allicin content, this is a very strong garlic with a long lasting hot and spicy taste. For anyone who finds garlic too insipid this one will add sizzle. Excellent in Asian and Mexican dishes because the flavour comes through well when competing with ginger and strong tasting meats. Bulbs get quite big with 4-6 plump cloves per bulb. Needs good drainage for success and does not tolerate wet conditions well.
