SuperBlue Lavender
Lavandula angustifolia 'SuperBlue'
Uses: Culinary/Medicinal/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 4-9)
A terrific new lavender from Holland with deep violet-blue flowers and a nice compact mounding growth habit. Strong scent fills the air far and wide. Very hardy and adaptable to both dry and wetter growing conditions. Lavender must be located in full sun and planted in well drained alkaline sandy soil, ideally in a raised bed or rock garden. Perfect for borders, rock gardens and containers. After the second year of growth, begin pruning once or twice a year, cutting back a third of its foliage. This will help maintain its shape, leaf and flower production as well as prevent woodyness. Bloom time mid summer. Height 25-60cm/10-24".
Propagation prohibited. U.S. patent (USPP#24929).
