Kew Red Lavender
Lavandula stoechas 'Kew Red'
Uses: Culinary/Medicinal/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 7-9)
One of our most stunning varieties for its crimson-cerise coloured flower spikes creating a striking contrast to its fragrant grey green foliage. A French variety typically grown as an annual in North America due to its warmer zone requirement. Plant in full sun and well drained alkaline sandy soil, ideally in a raised bed or rock garden as it is prone to root rot if conditions are too wet. Perfect for borders, rock gardens and containers. Bloom time as early as May in areas with mild summers and winters, with another wave of flowering in June and then again in late summer or fall. Height 45-60cm/18-24”.
