Lungwort Lichen
Lobaria pulmonaria

(Sticta; Tree lungwort; Lungmoss; Oak lungwort) This medicinal lichen grows on the trunks of trees in Europe and eastern United States. It is considered an important remedy for coughs that are accompanied by pain in the shoulders, back of the neck, and the chest. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is used for persistent dry, wheezing and rasping cough, and for bronchitis, laryngitis, whooping cough, some forms of asthma, and chronic nasal catarrh. It is usually taken as a tincture.
