Coastal Mugwort
Artemisia suksdorfii
Uses: Medicinal Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 3-8)
When to Sow: Spring/Late Summer/Early Fall Ease of Germination: Easy
(Coastal wormwood; San Juan mugwort) Beautiful silvery-green mugwort with a pleasant sage scent. Grows in coastal areas from northern California to southern B.C. Excellent for moxa, and as such it is decidedly less harsh than the common mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris. It is more yin-like, and burning moxa made with this mugwort helps to soothe the nerves and induces a truly remarkable experience of "surrender" and of "tearing down the walls of the heart." Gives immediate relief for insomnia, anxiety, headache and muscle tension. Ht. 45-90cm/18-36".
