Golden Rain Rosemary
Rosmarinus officinalis 'Joyce Debaggio'
Uses: Culinary/Medicinal/Beverage/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 8-10)
Discovered by the late Tom DeBaggio, an American herb grower and journalist, who dedicated this beautiful rosemary to his wife, Joyce. The uniquely coloured foliage transitions from gold in the spring, through chartreuse, then into deep green during the hot summer months. Not just good looking, it has great flavour and aroma as well. The aroma is woodsy with a cool citrus mint undertone. Leaves are long, thin; growth is hardy, bushy and upright. Altogether the plant looks like a grove of white pine. Golden Rain will flower when mature and has reached over 5 feet in height. Prefers well-drained, compost lightened clay, as well as full sun. Height 90-120cm/3-4ft; spread 45-60cm/18-24in.
