Mexican Bush Sage
Salvia leucantha
Uses: Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 8-10)
One of the most showy of the sages, notable for their velvety towering bi colour purple and white flower spikes that appear late summer to early fall. Loved for its contrast among a backdrop of gray green lance shaped leaves. Thrives in full sun but will tolerate some afternoon shade. Plant in average to rich, evenly moist, well-drained soils. Looks great in beds, borders or as container plants. Removing spent flowers or ‘deadheading’ will promote more flowering and help keep plants more upright. Make outstanding cut flowers! Height 1.2m/4ft.
