Used to make genepi, a liqueur or aperitif similar to absinthe, often taken before or after meals to help to stimulate the digestion. It is made by steeping the flowering tops of black wormwood in vodka or pure grain alcohol, producing a natural pale gold color. Also used to make Chartreuse, the famous liqueur made by the Carthusian monks in the mountains of France, Low mat-forming plant with grey felt-like leaves; excellent for rock gardens.
