(Bai shan hao) Attractive herb used in the Russian Far East for constipation, gastritis, colitis and senile weakness. Fresh chopped leaves are applied to wounds and used to make healing lotions. The attractive mounds of silver-grey leaves turn yellow and orange in autumn producing a striking effect in the garden. Native of China, Mongolia and East Russia where it grows on rocky slopes, along forest edges and roadsides.
