Fast and easy berry crop! Used for jams, pies and syrups like blueberries but much easier and quicker to grow. When ripe the glossy berries turn black but wait a little longer to harvest them when the gloss fades and the fruits begin to soften. They do not taste like much when eaten raw off the plants but when they are cooked and sweetened a culinary miracle turns them into a delicious blueberry-like mass. Prefers partial shade and well-composed soil. Start them indoors like tomatoes and plant out after last frosts. Ht. 30-60cm (1-2ft). 80 days from transplant.
