Amish Deer-Tongue Lettuce
Lactuca sativa 'Amish Deer-Tongue'
Duration: Annual
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
Like the red deer tongue variety, this is a very nice leaf lettuce with tongue-shaped leaves. The flavour is pleasantly sharp and nutty and the texture is quite good for fresh salad use. The variety is described as rugged and a heavy producer perhaps befitting of its Amish heritage. Sow direct in the garden in spring. 45-55 days.
