Good resistance to downy mildew! A large leaf Italian basil with good resistance to downy mildew and fusarium wilt. Developed at Rutgers University for the fresh and processing markets, the variety is equally well suited for home garden use. The dark green medium sized leaves have the traditional aroma and flavour of the best Italian basils. Van Drunen Farms, the largest grower of basil in the United States now relies on this variety almost exclusively after suffering devastating crop losses from downy mildew in the last decade.
