Developed for its antibacterial properties! Teamaker hops was developed by the USDA for medicine and food use. It has almost no alpha acid content (less than 2%) and almost no bitterness. But it is very high in beta acids which gives it strong antibacterial properties. It is highly aromatic and while it is sometimes used for specialty pale or light ales, it is mainly used in herbal teas and as an additive to livestock feed to inhibit the growth of certain harmful bacteria in the guts of animals.
