(Bai mu dan) A famous Chinese white tea from Fujian province in China where it is known as Bai Mu Dan. It is from the same true tea plant, Camellia sinensis, as black and green teas, but only the first flush of tender young leaves and buds in spring are harvested. The result is a fresh, sweet taste that is delicate, smooth and agreeably absent the astringency typical of green teas. It has a floral aroma and hues of green and oxidized brown. Truly a thing of beauty -- no wonder it was a symbol of wealth and honour in traditional Chinese culture.
