The propagator/transplanter takes and sticks cuttings, transplants seedlings and plugs, and waters plants. Persons suitable for the position love gardening and plants, are quick with their hands, are on their feet, and love working in a greenhouse environment that can range in temperature from winter cool to summer hot. Some weekend work is necessary. Year round and seasonal full-time positions open.
Order Pickers and Packers
Order pickers and packers are needed during our busy spring plant shipping season between April and June. Order pickers are responsible for collecting plants in the greenhouses for customer orders. They must be energetic, quick on their feet, and accurate. Order packers are responsible for preparing plants for shipping and packing them in Richters’ unique shipping boxes. They must be quick with their hands and able to accurately check plants against orders. These positions require workers to be on their feet in a greenhouse or packing house environment. Hours and days will vary according to shipping schedules, but generally will be 3-5 days a week. Pickers will generally work from Thurs. to Sun. Packers will generally work most Mondays to Wednesdays.
The farm handyman and caretaker is responsible for the upkeep of greenhouses and related buildings, equipment, and surrounding grounds. The candidate must be handy with tools, understand basic maintenance of buildings and equipment, be able to operate a farm tractor, and be able to operate a snow clearing equipment in winter. This is a permanent year-round live-in position; on-farm accommodation will be provided. Couples are welcome; and greenhouse employment is possible for spouses. This is an opportunity for those who love gardening, plants and the countryside, and love working in a greenhouse environment that can range in temperature from winter cool to summer hot. Weekend work is necessary.
