Dog and Bad Breath

My cousin has a male 4 yr. old yellow lab that is in excellent health, get’s plenty of exercise and is on a proper diet (no people food). The only problem he has is his breath, not just regular doggy breath but the really bad kind that I’ve never experienced before. His teeth are brushed regularly and all the vet wants to do is sell him breath spray. I was wondering if there may be something natural that may aid digestion or work in the stomach some how.

The odour of one’s breath whether it be animal or human is usually dependent on two things. First: the condition of the teeth and gums. If either of those are infected or in poor health, the breath will reflect this. The second area is the digestive system. As it sounds as though his teeth are checked regularly, my guess is that his digestion is not functioning as efficiently as it might. In my experience, dogs and cats look and function their best when they are on a homemade diet. I would suggest that you look at the nutrition plans listed in Richard Pitcairn’s book, "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats", "The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat" by Juliette de Bairacli Levy and "The Barf Diet" by Ian Billinghurst.
