Cat and Ear Polyp

I have a four year old cat who has had a bacterial ear infection for a month or so. It has been cleaned out and he has been given steroid anti-inflammatory drops as well as antibiotics. The vet was finally able to see far enough down into the ear canal the other day to see if the eardrum was intact and found a polyp there in front of the eardrum. There is now talk of scopes, biopsy, and malignancy. I am wondering if you have any suggestions for me to wash his ear out with or something to add to his food to aid in relieving the inflammation, and perhaps reduce the size of the polyp.

This is a serious condition and beyond the scope of this forum, I’m afraid. Best thing to do would be to have your cat seen by a qualified practitioner who has experience in herbal medicine and animals. In the meantime, making sure your cat is on a good, homemade diet will help with his immune status and improve his all-over health. Please see the entry "Ringworm" on this site (www.richters.com) for resources that have a number of recipes. In addition, see if you can purchase an infused oil of Garlic (Allium sativum) as well as an infused oil of Mullein (Verbascum thapsus). Blend the two together 50/50 and put a couple of drops in your cat’s ear on to two times a day.
