Pomeranian and Grief

My 15 year old Pomeranian lost her two friends last year and although three new friends have come to live with us, they haven’t bonded well. Since all of this has happened, she has lost alot of weight and tends to be depressed. Is there anything I can give her so that she could pep up or improve her eating?

I assume her two previous friends were also dogs, they had lived together for a long time and the three new animals are puppies? If so, this is quite an emotional load for any living being. Not only does your older Pomeranian need a chance to grieve the loss of her previous friends but now has to deal with the rambunctious energy of three young dogs who are competing for your attention, household pecking order, territory as well as bond with your older dog all at the same time. I would suggest that you look at the use of Flower Essences. Available at most heath food shops, pick up Honeysuckle, Bleeding Heart, Walnut and Quaking Grass; the latter two can be given to all four animals. Here’s how to use them: put two drops of each concentrated flower essence in a 50ml amber dropper bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with spring water. Put four drops of the diluted essences in each of the animal’s food two to three times a day. The first two essences will help your Pomeranian deal with her grief and the last two will help the whole crew deal with change and bond.
