My 10 yr old male cat has recently been diagnosed with diabetes. What is a good herb that will help keep his sugar level down. He is on pills but they just don’t seem to be working. I know there must be a natural herb.

The regulation of insulin in an animal or human is a very complicated, delicate business and specific information regarding such cannot be provided in this type of question and answer forum. Any herb that deals with blood sugar balance may interact with the medication your cat is currently on and every phamaceutical is different from the next. However, you can do a lot to help your cat by placing it on a good, homemade diet. Resources for these may be found in the posting "Dog and Allergies" on this website (www.richters.com). In addition, it would be useful for you to have your cat seen by a qualified practitioner who is experienced with both herbs and animals in order to have the specifics of your cat’s history discussed and the best possible recommendations given.
