Thank you for such a wonderful site with such a diverse and unique collection of information. I have saved your site for infinite projects ahead.

Do you happen to know any herbs, plant or other scent that attracts cats? I have a traumatized cat that is afraid to come home. He is feeding some here, though I cannot trap him. He has special health challenges, and I need to attract him inside a window trap. Right now, he is feeding just outside the window on tables even with the ground to side and level with bottom of window opening.

Catnip is not working, though something else might catch his interest or curiosity. Any thoughts or even rumors of something working?

Again, thank you for such a great site!

Two herbs besides catnip are known to be attractive to cats. One is cat thyme (Teucrium marum) fresh foliage and the other is the root of valerian (Valeriana officinalis). We carry valerian which you can find in our online catalogue at:

We carried cat thyme in the past but we discontinued it because, presumably, there were not enough cat lovers that wanted it.

It should be pointed out that cats are clearly not universally attracted to these herbs. They are every bit as finicky and individual in their tastes as humans are!
