Dandruff and Cats

I am wondering about an herbal remedy for a cat with quite bad dandruff. He is the only one in a household of 4 cats with the problem and also the only one with long hair--any correlation? He drinks lots of water and I have tried different conditioning and coat sprays, powders--nothing seems to work. I brush him often because of his long hair so that may be stirring it up a bit but I can’t avoid doing that! The products I have used have all been natural but not homemade.

The skin (and by extension fur/hair) is the body’s largest eliminative organ. Therefore the quality of the skin is a direct reflection of the health of the inner environment. I have found that the single largest influence on general health (and thus the coat) is through nutrition. Please see the work of Richard Pitcairn, "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats", "The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat" and "Cats Naturally" by Juliette de Bairacli Levy and "The Barf Diet" by Ian Billinghurst for further information and recipes. Ultimately, it won’t matter what you use externally if the inner environment is not functioning at its best.
