Kidney Failure in Dog

We took our dog to the veterinarian a week ago. They diagnosed her with kidney failure. We had her admitted. They have had her on antibotics and fluids for three days. Her blood urea nitrogen (BUN) has improved from 47 down to 38 However her creatinine levels have only improved marginally From 10 down to 8.4. They are going to let us take her home for the weekend to see how she does. What can we give her to bring the creatinine levels down farther?

This is a very complex case and one beyond this forum. It is not a matter of just lowering her creatinine levels as they work in concert with several other body processes. I would suggest you seek a qualified practitioner who will not only take a full case history and design a treatment plan that will address your dog’s entire system but will look at ongoing care as well. Such a practitioner may be found through the Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association (www.vbma.org).
