Feline Diabetic Neuropathy and Rodent’s Ulcer

Would you suggest anything for a 10 year old diabetic cat who has severe neuropathy in all legs but primarily in his back legs. He is on insulin once per day and a B-complex and we are unable to regulate his diabetes. He also suffers from rodent’s ulcer. Diagnosed as a baby and though he has tried many alternatives, we always had to return to steroids which ultimately caused his diabetes.

Unfortunately, the condition you describe is really beyond the scope of this forum. Your cat would benefit most from a one-on-one relationship with a qualified professional who has experience with both animals and herbs. This person would then be in a position to compile a full case history, taking into account your cat’s entire health history, bloodwork results, actual physical appearance and be available as herbal medicines are added to your cat’s daily regime. Such a practitioner may be found through the Veterinary Botanical Medicine Association (www.vbma.org) In addition, you may also want to consider a good, homemade diet for your cat. Please see the work of Richard Pitcairn, "Natural Health for Dogs and Cats", "The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog and Cat" by Juliette de Bairacli Levy and "The Barf Diet" by Ian Billinghurst for further information and recipes.
