Yes the signs did disappear while she was on prednisone. Her signs were what the vet called it snow nose which got scaley and sore. Chy kept scratching it all the time. Would bleed a little at times. I noticed little sores in her ears, but they would clear up. Seems to be more in summer than winter when her nose gets sore. She is a inside dog. No tests were done. Just the prednisone. I know other dogs in the area that have lupus too. Any help is appreciated.

As for the cracked nose, please see the posting on this website (www.richters.com) entitled, "Collie with Cracked Nose". Did you have a chance to view the posting on this website previously suggested entitled, "Lupus and Border Collie"? There you will find ideas as to diet, herbs and information regarding practitioners in your area. Specific recommendations would depend on the presentation of lupus in your dog as an individual, something that can only be determined by doing a full case study with you and your dog on a one-to-one basis. Autoimmune conditions are difficult in nature and, other than the general information provided in the posting listed above, treatment will vary from animal to animal and change over time, something not possible to do in this particular forum.
