I have a very large lab cross (86 lbs) who is very nice to us. However when he see anyone else he goes into a fit. He likes other animals like kittens, mice and birds but does not like people. He turned a year old in January 2007. Is there a herb we can give to him to calm him down when he sees other people?

Please see the postings on this website (www.richters.com) entitled, "Calming Dogs", "Calming an Upset Dog", "Aggressive Dachsund", "Anise for Hyperactivity?" and "Dog Anxiety". It may be that your dog is aggressive towards other humans for a couple of reasons. One, he regards family members as his property and is defending you from those whom he feels are a threat to your safety. Next, he may have undergone some trauma before he was adopted into your home and other humans may remind him of these earlier events. Is he aggressive towards everyone or just men, for instance? Or people of a certain size or colouring? Or people carrying a particularly shaped object? Is there a time of the day he acts this way and not others? Etc. Dietary issues as found in the postings as listed above may also make a difference as may the herbs and flower essences there listed.
