My dog will not drink walnut hull tincture. What should I do? My breeder had her on Albon so I finished her up on the medicine when I brought her home. I don’t want her on any medicine or taking any vaccinations. What can I do as regards to Rabies?

According to one website selling Albon, it is indicated for "...the treatment of respiratory, genitourinary tract, enteric, and soft tissue infections in dogs and cats: tonsillitis, cystitis, pustular dermatitis, bacterial enteritis, pharyngitis, nephritis, anal gland infections, canine salmonellosis, bronchitis, metritis, abscesses, bacterial enteritis, associated pneumonia, pyometra, wound infections with coccidiosis in dogs." That your dog was prescribed this medication says that she had some form of infection whilst still at the breeder’s. Walnut Hull tincture has been used historically to help deal with worm infestations. Therefore, I do not know with which issue you are concerned: the original infection or worms.

As for your other question, only you can make the choice of whether to vaccinate or not. I would refer you to a book by Catherine O’Driscoll, "What Vets Don’t Tell You About Vaccinations" (Second Edition: 1998); there is also a good chapter on vaccinations in Don Hamilton’s book "Homeopathic Care for Cats and Dogs" (1999). Hopefully these two books will help you in your decision regarding vaccines.
