Eucalyptus and Sugar Gliders

I was wondering if your eucalyptus plants are safe to have around my 4 sugar gliders?

Good question! Eucalyptus is quite high in volatile oils and as such could cause a an irritation to your sugar glider’s stomachs should they decide to eat the plant. However, as the taste of Eucalyptus is pretty strong, my guess would be that they would avoid its consumption. Nonetheless, better safe than sorry. Should you decide to have eucalyptus plants in your house, try to keep them in an area away from your sugar gliders. A word of warning, the essential oil of Eucalyptus can be fatal if ingested by humans and can also cause burning in the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, muscle weakness, convulsions and delirium. Now I realise this warning applies to humans and the essential oil, not the plant as a whole, but it’s important to take these statements under advisement.
