Showing Cut Herbs at Shows and Exhibitions

Have you entered herbs to be shown and judged? If so, can you give me some tips on how to keep the cut herbs vibrant for a week. Do you recommend hydrogen peroxide as for cut flowers?

As long as you don’t plan to eat the herbs after having won the ribbons, any of the preservatives sold for cut flowers would do fine. Many of them contain antibiotics to control the bacteria that attack cut flowers and get taken up by the cut plants. They are then not suitable for consumption. Hydrogen peroxide would not leave a harmful residue in the plants, but might bleach them. We have never entered a cut herb exhibit into a show and therefore have no experience with cosmetic cut herb preservation.
