I manufacture Horse Health Care Products. I am doing research for a new product and I hope you can help me. I am a firm believer of "growing a healthly horse from the inside out" I wish to make a product to grow a healthy hoof. I am aware of the benefits of Sunflower Oil. I wish to know what herb could be mixed with the oil to enhance hoof growth? For horses that have dry hooves.
Juliette de Bairacli Levy’s book, "The Complete Herbal Handbook for Farm and Stable" (available from Richters), she has a lengthy chapter on herbs. She was a horse lover and she wrote from a well of experience in dealing with horses. Even though I did not find anything specific about growing healthy hooves, Levy does discuss many aspects of equine health and how herbs can be used. For example, she discusses various foot problems such as foot fever, sandcrack, mud fever, and cracked heels, and the herbs that can help. No doubt you will discover many ideas for herbal products for horse care in this book.
