I am currently researching the growth and production of oregon grape and rose hip for a small property near Cranbrook, British Columbia.

Initially we would like to do a small one acre test plot. To see if it is feasible we firstly need information on production costs etc I will list the information below if you could answer any of these we would be extremely grateful. I am on a tight deadline.

seedling/seed info - cost and how to take care of

- equipment needed
- how to harvest and when?
- labour required, and if professional is needed
- pruning
- once harvested what to do with - dry, cool, wash
- equipment required
- timeline for the production process
- expected profit and expenses a year on raw product before processes.

My last real farm project with oregon grape. growing it as an ornamental for landscaping, was more than 40 acres. It was located up near Spirit Lake, WA, but was destroyed when Mt. St. Helens went off. We still wildcraft it on a daily basis, and I sold more than 2 ton of dried root just today. It does have some limitation in markets, so overproduction is discouraged.
